Central Greece
Central Greece is the most mountainous part of the country, and within it, lies some of the most beautiful and unique areas in all of Greece. It has a climate that is quite different from the rest of Greece; it tends to be mild and dry on the coasts and cold with snow in the mountains.
There are so many areas to visit; you are really spoilt for choice: ranging from Viotia, close to Athens, popular in winter for skiing.
The historic region of Delphi is also popular for pilgrimages, according to Greeks in ancient times; Delphi was "the centre of the world". The temple of Delphi is the second most visited tourist attraction in Greece, after the Parthenon in Athens. Fokida is almost an entirely mountainous area, a haven for hikers. The region of Evrytania is very beautiful, surrounded by stunning nature and plants.
The main town of Karpenissi is a more modern cosmopolitan place, with bars and restaurants. All the regions differ so much from the other; you would think you were in a completely different country not region.
